Vivah Sanskar

Hindu Marriage is a significant aspect of Indian culture and tradition. It is not only a social contract but also a religious sacrament, often referred to as a “Sanskar” in Hindu philosophy. The purpose of Hindu marriage is to unite two individuals, as well as their families and lineages, in a lifelong bond based on love, trust, and mutual respect.

Hindu marriage is considered a sacred union. It is a pious relationship in which the bride and groom pledge to lead a life based on religious and moral principles while supporting each other through all phases of life. It is seen as a means to fulfill the threefold goals of life:

  • Dharma (duty): Upholding righteousness, moral values, and responsibilities within the family and society.
  • Artha (prosperity): Achieving financial stability and material well-being while maintaining ethical integrity.
  • Kama (desires): Fulfilling emotional, physical, and personal aspirations within a committed relationship.
  • Moksha (spiritual liberation): Attaining ultimate salvation by leading a righteous and balanced life.
